Our 2026 benchmarking report draws on data from over 25 infrastructure funds across Large Cap, Pension & Sovereign Wealth, and Mid-Market segments, covering base salaries, bonus percentages, and carry/LTIP arrangements from Analyst through Director level.
A few key findings:
- Large Cap funds continue to offer the strongest bonus potential, with bonuses reaching 200% or more at some firms. Others offer lower annual bonuses alongside more substantial long-term upside through carry and stock participation.
- Pension and Sovereign Wealth funds generally provide more conservative cash bonuses, although deferred compensation is becoming increasingly common at Associate and VP level.
- Mid-Market compensation varies significantly between platforms. VP base salaries range from approximately £110k to more than £200k, reflecting differences in fund size, strategy, and carry arrangements.
- Carry is increasingly important when attracting and retaining mid-level talent, with considerable variation in when professionals become eligible and how awards vest.
As competition for experienced infrastructure investors continues to intensify, understanding the full compensation package, rather than base salary alone, has become increasingly important.
