Investment Banking Associate

Pearse Partners has partnered with a middle-market M&A advisory firm seeking to expand its team in Michigan with an Associate hire, driven by repeat mandates from private equity sponsors and acquisitive corporates, and a strong proprietary pipeline.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute M&A mandates: market mapping, target screening, outreach, and pipeline management from first contact through NDA, IOI/LOI, diligence and close
- Build and own operating models, valuation/returns cases, and concise target briefs for sponsor and corporate clients
- Prepare client-ready materials (teasers, profiles, IC decks) and coordinate cross-functional due diligence (financial, commercial, legal, operational)
- Run day-to-day communications with founder/owner operators, lenders and advisors; track progress rigorously in CRM
- Support senior bankers in thesis development and relationship management with PE funds and portfolio companies
Ideal Background:
- 2–5 years in Investment Banking (M&A/coverage) or Transaction Services/Deals with strong execution experience
- Proven financial modelling and valuation skills; comfort taking ownership in lean teams
- Confidence speaking with owner-managed businesses; clear, concise written materials
- Nice to have: exposure to buy-side/PE sponsor work, corporate development, or proprietary origination
